This car is a U.S. model, with automatic transmission and factory air-conditioning. It has no other options, not even a radio. It is DB 190G graphite grey with a bright red leather interior (referred to as "street walker red" by my friend Pete). It currently has incorrect 14"x6.5" steel wheels on it.
The car was bought by a gentleman in 1964 as a wedding present for his new wife. The couple lived in Gardnerville, Nevada, were the car spent its entire life with the wife. The gentleman passed away several years ago, but the lady kept the car up and continued to drive it occasionally until the mid-1990s. She took the car into the dealer in Reno to have all the little engine oil leaks fixed, which cost her about $1100.00. The next day she came outside and found the car sitting on the ground. (She didn't know it, but it had blown a front air bag.) After having just spent so much money, she got frustrated and just ignored the car, letting it sit at her house until I found it and bought it in Dec. 1998.
Northern Nevada is one of the best places in the world to store cars. It is very dry and the temperatures are not too extreme. However, cars need to be kept indoors to keep the brutal sun off of them. The paint and interior on this car are in very poor condition because the car was always kept outside. On the other hand, this car has no rust in it, and there is virtually zero corrosion on the various zinc and cad plated parts.
This is a solid car and a pleasure to drive, and has about 110,000 miles on it. Other than the rust free condition of the car, this is not an unusual or rare example of a 300SE sedan. For this reason, this is the 300SE I drive the most frequently.
