Welcome to the site dedicated to the 1961 through 1967 Mercedes-Benz 112 chassis 300SE automobiles.
The goal of this site is to provide as much information on the 300SE model as is realistically possible. Whether you are considering a 300SE for a future possession, are actively searching for one for purchase, or already have the honor of owning one, or more, of these fine cars, this site is here to help.
Most of the information here has been gained empirically. I personally own twenty-eight 300SEs. A number of other current and past owners have contributed from their experience as well.
Though this site is intended to specifically address the 112 chassis 300SEs, much of the information is relevant to the other finback (190/D, 200/D, 220/S/SE, and 230/S) vehicles as well.
The site is starting to fill out a bit, but still has along way to go. I am always looking for information on more vehicles, and additional picture and word contributions are not only welcomed, but actively solicited!
It is the technical information that I consider the most important though. This is the area that is the toughest to develop and will take the longest to incorporate. I am adding information as fast as is realistically possible, and the information will show up in randomly different subjects. The subjects will usually be related to the current project I am working on with one of the cars, or a problem a group of us 300SE folks are working on.
The area that is being very difficult to develop is an accurate list of the option codes and interior color codes. There is a lot of information out there, but most of it is woefully incomplete and is constantly contradictory. As it is my opinion that incorrect information is worse than no information, I have published only the information that I can prove exists in a factory publication.
The paint code numbers, fortunately, are another story. I have a very good list of the factory colors used during the time period of the heckflosse cars. This list will show up as soon as I figure out the best way to present the data. I also came across a very nice "dealer sample sheet" of the materials and colors available for the convertible tops. It has samples of the actual material in each of the colors.
I am always looking for any rare original literature, technical drawings, photos, stories, etc. I am also always looking for good ideas for the web site, constructive criticism, new topics, etc.

I have been re-sorting and adding more option codes to the list too. HOWEVER: only a few of the newly added option codes are relevant to the 112 chassis cars. It was my intention to include the more modern definitions for the purpose of comparison, however, I'm not really happy with the end result. Nor is the new list complete yet. The modern versions of the option code books are relatively large and it is going to take a while to finish typing them in. Keep checking back, and, I would like to hear some feedback on whether the inclusion of the modern definitions is of any real value.

07/12/05: This is a nicely renovated 300SE LWB Sedan. This car has the very rare divider window and the almost equally rare 4-speed manual transmission, in addition to many other features. See 112.015-10-005131.
