Interior (Ausstattung) Codes and Materials

back to General Info section

Trying to find accurate information on this subject has not been an easy task. While the information contained here is known to be accurate, it is also known that it is not entirely complete.

The information below is from a factory publication dated March 15, 1962. Unfortunately I do not have the entire publication, nor does the publication state anything about the velours which were available.

Here we have the most comprehensive factory documentation available so far. This publication is one of the most amazing that I have ever seen. It includes actual paint and material samples for all the car models in 1961 but also includes sections on the 300SE LWB Sedan and the 230SL, neither of which was available until 1963. Unfortunately, these sections are also the only ones that do not have a date printed on them, suggesting the possibility that they may be from a later publication. Regardless of the publication date of these two sections, their value cannot be understated.

The book contains samples for the 180, 180D, 190, 190D, 220, 220S, 220SE (including coupe and cabriolet), 300, 300SE, 300SE LWB, 190SL, 230SL, and the 300SL. So far, I have included only the sections which relate to the 300SE models, but if someone has a particular interest in another one of the sections, send me a note at:

webmaster@300SE.org  and I'll do what I can to help.

Because of the relative thickness of each of the pages (especially with the cords and velours), "depth of field" issues make some of the text appear a little out of focus. Click on each of the respective images to get a larger image of each of the individual pages.

300SE Sedan Standard paint finish and upholsteries.

Almost certainly there were more pages in this section at one time. Note that someone has actually cut out the bottom-right corner of the last page.
